All tackle football participants (not flag football participants) must weigh in before they are assigned to a team. There are no weight restrictions for 8th Grade players. Weigh ins for both 7th and 8th grade players will be during the Team Evaluations Combine in July. Equipment pick up for 7th and 8th grade will be the first week of practice as scheduled with the team coaches at the VAA building. Equipment pickup and weigh in dates for Major and Minor football leagues have yet to be determined. They will take place at the VAA building next to the Apple Valley Community Center and Hayes Ice Arena. On line registrants will be able to select their equipment pick up time during the registration process. Walk in registrants will be asked to pick a time for equipment pickup and weigh in while registering for the upcoming season. You can only pick up equipment during your scheduled time.
The goal of VAA Football is to provide training in football fundamentals, along with lesson in teamwork and fair play.

Teams playing tackle football are selected through a process based on the child's weight and grade level. Players will be weighed in during equipment pick up and will not be placed on a team until they are weighed. Coaches will receive official rosters at the designated coaches meeting the first weekend in August. No car pool requests are accepted. Flag football teams are set by schools, and evenly divided between grades. After teams have been selected, only a limited number of late players will be accepted in order to fill out rosters.

Major, Minor, and flag teams are limited to no more than three practices per week prior to the start of the regular season. During the regular season teams are limited to the two games and one Practice. The Majors, Minors and Flag teams each play ten regular season games, beginning in Late August, calendar dependent, or early September and ending in mid October. All games are at Hayes Community Center. Flag teams play on Tuesday or Thursday evenings and Saturday mornings. Minor teams play on Thursday evenings and Saturday mornings.
